A teenager is to stand trial accused of assaulting six people in Swadlincote after he denied the charges.

Jamie Simpkin, of Oversetts Road, Newhall, has now appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court after he was charged with six counts of assault against a total of four men and two women in Swadlincote town centre.

The 18-year-old has denied all of the charges against him. The alleged incident is said to have taken place in West Street, Swadlincote, on February 11.

Simpkin is now due to reappear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on November 22 where he is expected to stand trial.

The teenager now answers unconditional bail until that date.
