Three vehicles have collided on the A38 in South Derbyshire as motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

The collision occurred on the A38 northbound carriageway near Egginton, and there are tailbacks being reported in Burton, but no injuries have been reported.

The incident is believed to have happened around the Church Road area of the A38 and traffic and travel information website Inrix is reporting that there is congestion to the Claymills junction.

The carriageway is partially blocked and there is queuing traffic.

Derbyshire Police have urged motorists to find an alternative route with a spokesman saying: “Part of the northbound A38 near Egginton is blocked after a three-vehicle collision this afternoon. No injuries. Please avoid if you can.”
