A large group of travellers have pitched up their caravans on land in Stapenhill - and it's thought they may be from France.

The group have been spotted on land at Waterside Road, in Stapenhilll, where passers-by have contacted the Burton Mail after spotting a group of at least seven caravans arrived last night, Monday, June 26.

Eye witnesses said that the travellers arrived last night at around 5pm. They said a total of seven caravans and cars, such as Mercedes and BMWs, with French number plates had pulled up. One passer-by said the travellers where talking to people in the area in French and some in English.

The site is an area of parkland next to the River Trent.
