Motorists are being warned to expect further delays in Stapenhill due to emergency roadworks.
South Staffs Water is carrying out emergency work tonight, Wednesday, August 30, in Stanton Road due to water being spotted on the roadway.
Drivers are warned that the work could be going on until the weekend, causing further delays as the closure of St Peter's Bridge is already leading to major delays for those trying to get in and out of Burton.
A spokesman for South Staffs Water said: "We are responding to some emergency works in Stanton Road, Stapenhill, where there was visible water on the roadway creating issues for customers which vehicles driving through it.
"We have had an engineer out today, Wednesday, August 30, and a two-way traffic management in place. We hope to repair the road tonight but it could be completed by the weekend.
"It is emergency works and we have let the county council know."
It comes after St Peter's Bridge was closed for three months by Staffordshire County Council for vital repair work.
