If you once just couldn't get enough of The Flume at Alton Towers, you now have a chance to take part of it home. The Flume, which closed last year to make way for a new ride, had been a popular attraction at the park since it opened in 1981.

Fans of the ride can now claim their own bit of memorabilia of the ride to take home, including the boats themselves.

Bosses at the Alton Towers Resort are selling a range of items from The Flume by auction on online auction site eBay and will be donating the funds to charity. Fans have until Thursday, September 14 to get their hands on bits of the ride.

The boats are for sale on eBay

There are 39 items up for grabs on eBay, 30 of these being the boats themselves, and other items including information signs and the attraction's height board. Most of the boats listed on the selling site will set you back between £100 and £200, whereas signs from the ride vary from around £40 to over £100.

The money raised by the auction will go to Merlin's Magic Wand, which supports disabled and disadvantaged children worldwide.

The ride, which had a bathroom theme at the time is closed because of its sponsorship by soap manufacturer Imperial Leather, saw thrill-seekers clamber into a bath-shaped boat as they ventured around the six-minute attraction. The ride also featured a giant rubber duck riders flew past, but, seemingly, that is not for sale.

The ride was the longest log flume attraction in the world when it opened 36 years ago.

The Flume was finally closed in 2016 to make way for the park's newest attraction, known only as Secret Weapon Eight. The 'Secret Weapon' label has only been used on rides that have been a world first, such as Oblivion, Nemesis or The Smiler.
