There are delays between Burton and Tamworth this morning, Wednesday, August 9, after an accident on the M42 southbound side.

It happened between junction 11, on the A42 for Burton and junction 10, on the A5 for Tamworth. One vehicle was involved, which was left standard in the central reservation, according to traffic monitoring website Inrix.

Leicestershire Police said the crash was reported to them just before 9am today, and that only one vehicle was involved and no-one had been injured.

One lane on the road remains closed, while highway enforcement officers continue their work at the scene.

Elsewhere on the roads this morning, there is slow traffic on the M1, heading northbound between junction 24A with the A50 Derby, Stoke, East Midlands Airport and junction 25 with the A52 Brian Clough Way.

This was because of an earlier accident, but all lanes have since been reopened. It is now clearing.
