Emergency services have warned motorists to stay away from Burton Road, near Derby, after a collision involving three cars.

The crash happened close to the junction for Manor Road, Warwick Avenue and Burton Road at around 6.15am.

The Derby Telegraph has reported that Manor Road has been closed in both directions from Burton Road to Uttoxeter New Road while emergency services deal with the incident.

Derbyshire Constabulary, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service are all at the scene, where at least one person is thought to be injured.

A spokesman from the fire service said that the road is likely to be closed for a 'considerable time' while a person is rescued from a vehicle.

Traffic is building in the area and commuters have been advised to find alternative routes.

Injuries are not thought to be life threatening

The injuries of three people who were hospitalised following a three-vehicle crash in Littleover are not thought to be life threatening.

Derbyshire police has re-appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

A spokesman said: “Roads have now re-opened following a collision in Littleover this morning.

“We were called to Warwick Avenue, at the Manor Road junction, at around 6.15am to reports of a crash involving three cars.

“The cars have been recovered and the roads have now re-opened.

“Two people were injured and have been taken to hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

“Witnesses or anyone with information should call us on 101 quoting incident 99 of November 23.”

Three people hospitalised

Three people have been taken to hospital, East Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed.

A spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 6.16am on November 23 to a road traffic collision in Manor Road, Derby.

“We sent three paramedics in ambulance cars and three crewed ambulances to the scene. Two patients were taken to Queen’s Medical Centre and one patient was taken to Royal Derby Hospital.”

One lane has reopened

One lane on Burton Road has been reopened in the direction of Warwick Avenue.

Our reporter at the scene says the clean-up operation is underway and the burnt out car is on the other side of Burton Road.

She says traffic is slow in both directions along Burton Road from Derby.

Traffic is slow in the area

Congestion is building in the area following a three-vehicle smash.

The incident took place at the crossroads of Manor Road, Warwick Avenue and Burton Road and traffic is affected on all approaches.

The A5250 Rykneld Road to A5250 Pastures Hill/Callow Hill Way is also slow, according to traffic information website Inrix.
