Plans to build 55 new homes on a field in Branston may finally get the go ahead after four years, and could see more than £200,000 poured into education in the area.

The 6.3-acre site on land south of Tatenhill Lane could see up to 55 homes built. It would mean the demolition of two homes currently on the site and would be close to the new Branston Locks development, which will comprise 2,000 new homes and a new secondary school.

Natalie Gotobed, of Worcester-based Lioncourt Homes Ltd and Central & County Developments Ltd, have applied to East Staffordshire Borough Council. This latest application marks the second time the plans have been submitted.

An initial 'outline' application had been approved in December 2013. Then a more detailed 'reserved matters' application, which provides further details on access and landscaping, was submitted in March 2017 and is currently being decided by the East Staffordshire Borough Council.

However, the reserved matters plan lay-out for the site differed slightly from the details approved at the outline stage, which has meant the council needed a new full application for the site.

If this new plan gets the go ahead, homes at 78 and 80 Tatenhill Lane will be bulldozed to make way for the access to the new site.

The plan also includes parking for 163 cars. A total of £205,856 will be donated to education purposes as part of a planning agreement with the developers. The cash will be used to provide amenities for residents affected by development.

The Branston Locks development on the land north of Tatenhill Lane will cover 400 acres. A further development to the north-west of a new 1,200-pupil secondary school and 400-student sixth form college has also been approved.

A date for when the new planning application has not yet been set by the borough council.
