Work is now well under way for up to 100 houses to be built on land in Newton Solney. The controversial housing development, named The Paddocks, will see three, four and five-bedroom homes built in Newton Road, close to Bladon School.

Barratt Homes was originally refused permission to build the homes, however, the developer submitted an appeal and the final decision was handed to an independent Government inspector and passed.

Campaigners, including both Winshill and Newton Solney parish councils, believed that if the proposals came to fruition, it would have a negative impact on services and roads in Winshill.

Concerns were also raised about the "urban sprawl" which could stem from the development.

The houses are being built by David Wilson Homes who are part of the Barratt Homes portfolio.
