Roadworks are easing up across Burton and South Derbyshire but others are still causing problems for rush hour motorists.

If you are heading home tonight motorists should expect delays and allow extra time for their journeys.

Motorists were left frustrated by the many sets of roadworks that had been causing long delays on main routes in Burton and South Derbyshire last week.

Works in Midway and Woodville on the A511 have now finished as telecoms firm BT completed its upgrades.

However, gas works in Derby Road, Burton, are still causing delays and are set to continue until Wednesday, July 5.

But those who had been affected by road closures on the A444 at Linton Heath will be pleased to hear the four-way traffic lights have been taken down, and for the time being, have not yet reappeared but are due to continue on the A444 in the next few days. Western Power Distribution is making urgent repairs to its underground cables.

There are now two sets of roadworks in Park Road, in Newhall, as both Western Power Distribution are fitting electricity supplies, and Derbyshire County Council is completing resurfacing works. This is due to last until July 26.

Meanwhile Virgin is still in Burton Road, Repton, causing headaches for motorists. However, the work is set to be completed by July 7.
