A FORMER post office will be turned into residential use.
The post office room, in High Street, Abbots Bromley, has been unused since the business shut down six years ago and now plans have been approved to change it for residential use complementing the existing rooms.
Plans agreed by East Staffordshire Borough Council include making structural alterations to the street front and replacement of windows and doors.
The applicant, John Banks, of Abbots Bromley, is faced with considerable disruption to the front wall, and will replace the shop front windows with timber sash windows.
The property appears to have been a large private house which has had a large room converted into the town's post office, probably within the last 40 years, but has stood virtually unused.
