In these tough economic times, redecorating your home is not an easy-fix option. You want long-lasting quality carpets in Nottingham that don’t cost the earth to purchase and will keep your home looking stylish for a number of years. You want wallpapers, furnishings and accessories that are great value for money and even greater in being able to offer your home the style it deserves.

So if you’re in need of some guidance on how achieve this – here are some top tips:

It’s always best to choose a trend that you think will be popular for around three years. Now, you may be questioning if you’ve got the fashion forecast or knowledge to hedge your bets on the long-lasting trends of the season, but picking your interior designs doesn’t mean you need to be a couture queen. Nor does it mean that you’ll need to change your décor every three years either – it’s just a rough guide to knowing that a trend has longevity. So, as long as you’re steering clear of trends that will easily date your room (so definitely no Olympic themed accessories!), you’re good to go.

So, how can you look for these trends?

Believe it or not, the best place to look for inspiration and ideas on how to redecorate your home is the high-street. That’s right – fashions and the clothes we wear all influence the way in which retailers pick their interior styles. If you’re wearing it in April then by August you’ll probably start to notice themes and trends making their way into your home! So, next time you’re looking for the ultimate wallpaper, it might just be worth taking a few of your favourite pieces of clothing with you…

To keep your look on-trend for longer, bear the following tip in mind – keep the main interior features traditional but opt for contemporary twists in your accessories and ‘disposable’ furnishings. Disposable furnishings could be your cushion covers, photo frames or even the type of flowers you place in your room. It’s these little touches that keep your interior fresh and fashionable which will be balanced just right by a tastefully traditional backdrop.

The most important tip to bear in mind though is to choose a trend or theme that you’re comfortable with – there’s no point in picking a design that’s been popular for a while if you know, deep down, you wouldn’t be comfortable living with it for a number of years. Finally, have fun: redecorating your home is an exciting time – so get creative!
