Burton Albion face a trip to Championship rivals Cardiff City in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

The unseeded Brewers were drawn against the Bluebirds - who beat them on the opening day of the league season last weekend - in tonight's second-round draw after securing a thrilling 3-2 victory at Oldham Athletic on Wednesday evening.

The tie will be played in the week commencing August 21, with Albion facing the midweek journey to south Wales in between home league clashes with Birmingham City (August 18) and Sheffield Wednesday (August 24).

Burton fell to a 1-0 loss against Neil Warnock's side on Saturday when Kenneth Zohore curled in a fine 87th-minute winner, while the Brewers fell to an even later goal in their trip to the Cardiff City Stadium in the Championship last season.

Rhys Healey bundled home in the 91st minute for Cardiff in that game.

Last term, Clough's men fell at the second-round stage of the then-EFL Cup at the hands of Liverpool, who won 5-0 at the Pirelli Stadium.
