Cardiff City - Burton Albion's opponents on the opening day of the 2017/18 Championship season - have sold out their entire allocation of away tickets at the Pirelli Stadium.

The Welsh club announced earlier today that there are no more tickets left for the match on August 5, with more than 1,000 travelling Bluebirds expected to descend on Burton on August 5.

The Pirelli holds just under 7,000, so the Cardiff players are sure to feel the vocal backing from their supporters as they seek to get their campaign off to a winning start.

It's a fair distance for the Cardiff faithful to travel, with a 297-mile round trip awaiting those backing City, as excitement builds up around ex-Brewers boss Neil Warnock's first full season in charge in south Wales.

They will travel in hope that they can avenge last season's 2-0 defeat at the Pirelli, which led to then-manager Paul Trollop's sacking in October.

Home tickets for the Brewers' Championship curtain-raiser against Cardiff are currently on general sale. Albion follow up that game with three successive away trips - to Oldham Athletic in the Carabao Cup, Middlesbrough and Hull City.
