Former Nottingham Forest midfielder David Prutton reckons Middlesbrough will defeat Burton Albion tonight at the Riverside Stadium.

The Brewers head to the Riverside depleted following injuries to Stephen Warnock and Liam Boyce, with Ben Turner and Jackson Irvine suspended.

Winless Burton go to Boro off the back of a 4-1 drubbing by Hull City on Saturday, with Warnock picking up an injury early on in that game and Irvine sent off on a day to forget in Humberside.

Boro, meanwhile, will hope to make it six points from back-to-back home games having narrowly beaten Sheffield United 1-0 at the weekend.

Rudy Gestede's header was the difference-maker in a game marred by crowd trouble after the final whistle.

And Sky Sports EFL pundit Prutton believes Garry Monk's side will do just that and inflict another defeat on Burton under the Riverside lights.

"Middlesbrough were a little bit lucky to get away with the three points against Sheffield United," he told Sky Sports.

"They controlled the game for long spells but couldn't kill it off before that controversial late decision.

"But it was a first league win which Garry Monk needed and I fancy them to back it up with another win on Tuesday night.

"Burton have struggled so far and I can't see any joy for them here either."
