Former Burton Albion striker Shaun Harrad says he counts the Brewers' FA Cup third-round draw against Manchester United at the Pirelli Stadium and the 2009/10 promotion to the Football League as his "biggest achievements" in football.

In an interview with the Non-League Paper, the former Albion striker of six years also said that the best manager he ever worked under happened to be current Burton boss Nigel Clough.

Between 2005 and 2011, Harrad made nearly 250 appearances in the colours of Albion, netting 75 goals in the process.

Arriving from Notts County in 2005, Harrad managed nine goals in his first season with the Brewers, as they marched to that memorable goalless draw with Manchester United in the FA Cup of that season.

Harrad currently holds the record for most goals scored in a single Football League season for the Brewers - netting 21 in their maiden Football League campaign in 2009/10.

And the well-travelled forward has been full of compliments for his Brewers manager at the time, and the club in general.

"Gaining promotion to the Football League with Burton Albion and also reaching the FA Cup third round, when we played Manchester United and got a 0-0 draw," he told the Non-League Paper when asked about his biggest footballing achievement.

"We were part-time back then and everybody said it was going to be 5-0 or 6-0.

"They put Wayne Rooney and (Cristiano) Ronaldo on in the first game but we held on which was an unbelievable achievement. The atmosphere at Burton was electric.

"We were pretty relaxed for the replay at Old Trafford. We tried to take the occasion on. It's what dreams are made of."

Praising Clough - the mastermind behind the Brewers' rise through the non-league pyramid and into the Football League - Harrad said he had an "aura" about him.

"I've had a few," said Harrad, when asked who he felt was the best manager of his career.

"But it's got to be Nigel Clough at Burton Albion. He knew when to put an arm around a player or give him a kick up the backside. I really enjoyed my football under him.

"He has an aura about him. He expected you to work hard when it was work time but he had the knack of having a laugh with the lads when the time was right.

"He got us playing a brand of football that was unknown back then in the Conference.

"He would even play in the odd pre-season game and was brilliant in training. He obviously played at the highest level, but he was still one of the best players - even if he went in goal."
