Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in Burton Albion midfielder Jackson Irvine.

But while that interest from Forest - reported by the Nottingham Post - is believed to be genuine, we understand that no official offers or approaches have been made to the Brewers for the Australian international at this stage.

Irvine - who was Albion's record signing until the capture of former Ross County teammate Liam Boyce earlier this summer - has been linked with a myriad of Championship clubs after an outstanding first campaign in the second tier of English football.

He scored 10 goals from midfield, and his energy and quality in and out of possession ensured he played a crucial role in keeping the Brewers in the Championship last term.

The 24-year-old has featured in each of Albion's pre-season wins so far this summer and is likely to start in tonight's clash with AFC Wimbledon at Kingsmeadow (7.45pm).

Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion had previously been reported to have made a bid of £1m for Irvine, but the Brewers are understood to have received no such offer from the Seagulls.

Irvine has two years remaining on his current deal at the Pirelli and was offered fresh terms in January, with that deal yet to be signed.
