Manchester United are likely to field a strong side for tomorrow night's Carabao Cup tie against Burton Albion.

The five-time winners of the league cup welcome Burton to Old Trafford for only the second time in the history of both sides - but United will have to do so without some key players.

Among those is one-time world-record signing Paul Pogba, who injured his hamstring in last week's Champions League group stage match against Swiss side FC Basel.

The £89m man has been at the heart of United's unbeaten Premier League start, notching two goals and setting up two more as Jose Mourinho looks to go one further than last year's treble haul of trophies - including the Carabao Cup.

Argentinian defender Marcos Rojo is still recovering from a knee injury, while youngster Axel Tunzabe is set to miss out due to a back complaint.

First-teamers David De Gea, Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly and Nemanja Matic all look set to be rested.

But that still leaves Mourinho with a plethora of options to choose from for the visit of Albion, with the likes of Chris Smalling, Jesse Lingard and Michael Carrick all likely to feature.

Albion trio Liam Boyce, Will Miller and John Brayford will miss out, with the latter cup-tied having already played for former club Sheffield United in this competition.

Recent absentees Hope Akpan and Matt Palmer could make their return from injury, while Solihull Moors loanee Ben Fox will travel with the squad - with his headed goal the winner against second-round opponents Cardiff City.

Ironically, if Mourinho was to win another EFL Cup this term he would overtake Brian Clough and Sir Alex Ferguson, with the trio tied on four wins each.
