Burton Albion winger Marcus Harness has joined Port Vale on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Nigel Clough said after Friday's friendly win over Mickleover Sports - in which Harness starred and scored a fine goal from left-wing-back - that the Albion academy graduate was set to join the League Two Valiants in a temporary transfer to allow him more first-team football.

And the 21-year-old has now completed the loan move, which will see him reunited with fellow Brewers academy man Sam Hornby.

Harness has been in and around the Brewers' senior squad since his first-team debut under Gary Rowett in 2013 and made 10 appearances off the bench in the Championship last season.

He previously spent time on loan at Ilkeston FC and Aldershot Town in 2015/16 - and Clough wants the pacy winger to push on with more senior experience in the Football League with Vale.

"Hopefully the Port Vale loan will give Marcus the game time he needs to kick on," said the Brewers boss.

"He’s played well in pre-season and scored a good goal against Mickleover on Friday night."

As part of the deal, Burton have the option to recall Harness in January.
