Burton Albion striker Marcus Dinanga has joined AFC Telford United on a season-long youth loan.

The 20-year-old signed a new contract with the Brewers back in July, but will now spend the season with National League North side Telford.

Dinanga will be hoping for a similar outcome to his last loan stint, when he notched 34 goals for Matlock Town and was named the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division's young player of the year in 2016/17.

The forward heads to Telford - who play their home matches at the New Bucks Head - after featuring, and scoring, in a number of pre-season games for the Brewers.

He bagged no fewer than five times for Albion during pre-season. He scored three in his first three games, as well as registering a fine double in the 9-0 hammering of Arnold Town.

Dinanga signed his first professional contract with Burton Albion in 2016, and spoke earlier in the year about hoping to force his way into Nigel Clough's first-team plans this term, alongside the likes of Joe Sbarra and Ben Fox.

For now, though, the exciting forward talent will partake in the season-long move into the sixth step of English football, as Clough looks for him to gain more senior experience to ready him for a chance in the Burton team in the future.

As with his stint at Matlock last term, Dinanga is likely to train with Albion during the week before meeting up with the Bucks for matches across the campaign.

Albion boss Clough spoke previously about wanting to make sure his young stars – like Dinanga and Fox – played at a higher level this season than last if they went out on loan.
