Jackson Irvine says he has heard nothing on rumours linking him with a move to Premier League newcomers Brighton & Hove Albion.

A report in the Mirror over the weekend suggested that the Seagulls had made a £1m bid for Burton Albion's 10-goal midfielder, who was the club's record signing until this summer.

But we understand Albion have received no such bid from Brighton.

And the player himself - who will soon return to pre-season training with the Brewers after being given a break following his international duties with Australia - has played down any speculation, although he admits it is nice to have top-flight sides linked with his signature.

"I've obviously read about it, but I don't believe there's anything tangible there," Irvine told SBS in Australia on the Brighton story.

"I haven't heard anything anyway, and I think if I haven't heard anything about it then it's probably not going to be happening just yet.

"Obviously it's a compliment (to be linked with a Premier League move), though I'm not sure what the source was.

"In terms of anything real happening at the moment, there's nothing on the cards in that department."

Burton have made five new signings so far this summer, including bringing Irvine's former Ross County teammate Liam Boyce to the Pirelli Stadium in a club-record deal.

Irvine himself has been linked with a host of Premier League and Championship sides since the turn of the year, but he will continue to stand by his philosophy of focusing on his own situation with the Brewers until anything concrete comes along.

"It's a long window and you deal with anything as and when it crops up," he added.

"But I'll be going back to Burton - we have made some good signings in recent weeks and we'll see what happens."
