Derby County could be closing in on Leicester City forward Tom Lawrence, according to reports.

The Rams have previously had a £7m bid for the ex-Ipswich Town loanee turned down.

But it is now being reported that Derby - managed by former Burton Albion boss Gary Rowett - are stepping up their interest in the 23-year-old, who was not part of Leicester's squad for their Premier League opener with Arsenal on Friday night.

Lawrence bagged 11 goals in an Ipswich side that finished only three points above the Brewers last term.

Elsewhere, Wolverhampton Wanderers - who beat Derby 2-0 on Saturday - are reportedly considering a £20m move for two Championship strikers, according to the Mirror.

Sheffield Wednesday's Jordan Rhodes and Norwich City forward Nelson Oliveira are being linked with moves to Molineux - if Wolves can find a way to make the deals meet the Financial Fair Play regulations.

Could Sheffield Wednesday's Jordan Rhodes be set for a move to Molineux?

Wolves have already broken the Championship transfer record this summer by spending £15m on Ruben Neves, and they look keen to strengthen their ranks further as they plot a push for promotion.

Reading have completed a deal for Aston Villa midfielder Leandro Bacuna.

The 25-year-old has signed a four-year contract at the Madejski Stadium after making 31 appearances in all competitions for the Villans last term.

His one goal in that time was the opener in Villa's 2-1 Boxing Day victory over Burton.
