Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is reportedly set to sign for Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal, according to ESPN FC.

The 24-year-old spent the latter half of last season on loan at Villa Park, keeping eight clean sheets in 22 appearances - impressing Steve Bruce in the process. He featured in the Villans 1-1 draw at Burton Albion in April.

The confirmation could come as early as Monday, after Johnstone was left out of the United squad that travelled to Los Angeles for their pre-season tour on Sunday.

He is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Red Devils, but has clocked up more than 100 senior appearances after various spells out on loan.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed former Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy on a two-year deal following his release from the Canaries.

The former England international reportedly had other offers on the table, but joins an aspiring Wolves side who broke their club-record transfer fee to land Porto's Ruben Neves for £15 million over the weekend.

"For me now this is a new challenge," he told the club's website.

“There were other offers on the table but Wolves is the one which excited me the most."

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane is interested in reuniting with his old Spurs boss Harry Redknapp at Birmingham City, according to Sky Sports .

Redknapp confirmed last week that City had not yet made an offer for the former Republic of Ireland international, but said Keane is a player "you would love to have around your club."

The 36-year-old is reportedly aware of Redknapp's comments and believes he could offer something to the Blues.

Keane left MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy in November last year, and is currently training with Irish side Shamrock Rovers in a bid to maintain his fitness levels.

Sunderland are set to make a fresh attempt to sign Bournemouth's Max Gradel after having a loan bid knocked back, according to The Sun.

The Black Cats wanted Gradel on a season-long loan deal with the option to buy for £2.5 million, but the south-coast side only want to do a permanent deal.

And now Simon Grayson is reportedly weighing up a move for the winger he signed for Leeds in 2010, during his stint in charge at Elland Road.

Gradel is desperate to leave the Cherries, having fallen down boss Eddie Howe's pecking order after signing a new four-year deal last summer.
