THESE pictures show Pete Doughty, from Branston, who ran the London Marathon in memory of a close friend who lost his battle with cancer.
Before setting off to the capital city on Saturday morning, Raz of Stylus Hair by Raz on New Street in Burton shaved the shape of the frog into Pete’s head. The design was finished off with the letters ‘OFTF’ (One For The Frog) shaved and coloured down the side, a phrase his friend Ian Dickerson would use. Pete said: “It took one and a half hours from start to finish.
“My two targets after doing the marathon last year were to raise more than £4,000 for Macmillan (last year’s total) and complete the race in less than 4:54:59 (last year’s time). The good news is I completed the race in 4:24:23 knocking 30 minutes off last year’s time. This at least made me feel that all of the hours training had been worthwhile. But the most important result is that the sponsorship total is currently standing at £5,135 and still rising. I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last few months – both financially and emotionally – without all of them my efforts would have been for nothing.”
