A popular family tourist attraction near Uttoxeter is set to reveal a brand new play area to compliment its range of cute animals.

Amerton Farm, off the A518 Stafford Road, is launching its new attraction - Billy's Farm Barn - in time for the summer holidays.

The play area not only provides fun for youngsters, but could also give them a valuable history lesson about an historic village in the area.

An Amerton Farm spokesman said: "Wondering what to do during school holidays? Why not plan a trip for the kids to Amerton Farm and experience our new play area called Billy’s Farm Barn?

"It is an indoor wooden play area that children love to explore, climbing and be adventurous on all the equipment.

"The buildings represent the local village of Stowe by Chartley with a farmhouse, grain store, the pub, old village school, village hall and Granny Shaw’s black and white thatched cottage. We have a cyber room for the older children and a baby sensory area for the younger children."

The usual outside area at the attraction is also set to be opened for the holidays. It features animal paddocks, a duck pond, sand pit, bouncy castle and tractor and trailer rides. New additions to the farm include pygmy goats and some alpacas.

The attraction's Eunice Finney said: “The barn has been branded as Billy’s Farm Barn in memory of my late husband, Bill, and it is fitting that my granddaughter, Elsie Flint, who is three, will be opening the barn and cutting the red ribbon. Billy our mascot will be on hand to help Elsie.”

Retail shops, including Finney’s tea room, are also on the site, which will soon welcome a new food hall and dog groomer.
