Amateur dramatics supremos are set to build on their reputation as among the best around with a hotly-anticipated variety show.

Denstone Players will present two evenings of dance, drama, poetry, music and comedy on Friday, September 22 and Saturday, September 23.

Organisers have promised there will be material to cater for every audience member's tastes. Tickets cost £7 and are available from Denstone Stores by calling 01889 590117; Denstone Hall Farm Shop by calling 01889 590050, or online at www.denstoneplayers.com

Doors open at 7pm at Denstone Village Hall on both nights. We recently reported the Players were holding auditions for their next panto.

Actors, singers, dancers and crew were at the village hall earlier this month to audition for the Wizard of Oz.

The production will be staged in February and more information is available by calling director Gill brown on 01889 591013.

A spokesman for the Players explained a little about their history.

He said: "The Denstone Players Amateur Dramatic Society evolved from the village review held in support of the Denstone Sports Trust in 1987.

"Since then the society has staged numerous plays and shows for the enjoyment of members and our audiences in the local community. A Young Players section was established in 2008 for children aged eight to 16 years."

The group will be building on the success of February's Aladdin panto, which drew in record crowds, and last year's variety show.
