A popular Burton restaurant has introduced a new "bridge busting" menu to cheer up those feeling down about the traffic issues currently blighting the town.

The Winery, in Manor Drive, launched its brand new menu on Monday, October 2, which sees discounted meals for those dining between 5pm and 7pm on weekdays.

Diners ordering from the a la carte menu can order one meal and get the second for £10 – an offer Winery staff hope will bring a smile to anyone feeling frustrated over the congestion.

The offer runs until November 19 and excludes the steaks and sides and the Winery Slab.

Ben Laing, managing director of The Winery, said: "I just thought there was so much doom and gloom that I thought it was time we tried to do something a bit more exciting and positive.

"We thought it would be nice to try and help those people who are stuck in the town trying to get home at peak time."

St Peter's Bridge was closed on Tuesday, August 29 to replace the rusted bearings which are vital to the bridge's structure. The bridge is not set to reopen till the end of November.
