Burton's answer to some of the biggest names in showbiz will be coming to Burton Town Hall this week to raise money for a local newlywed suffering with cancer.

A Song for Lizzie will take place on Thursday, August 31 and will feature some of the most talented performers in the Midlands, all in aid of supporting Lizzie Brown.

Lizzie, 27, recently married the love of her life, Rob Brown, one year before planned, after she was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. The couple hoped for the best, but the diagnosis came too late and the cancer had already spread to Lizzie’s ribs, spine, lymph nodes and pancreas.

Fans of the paranormal will have the chance to see Mike Powell, who claims that the spirit of John Lennon has helped him to write 350 songs throughout his career. Mr Powell has recorded at Abbey Road studios where the former Beatle spent a lot of his time before his death in 1980.

Ellie Goulding look-a-like and tribute act Chelsea Jade will also be supporting the cause along with swing superstar Lawrence Penn, who will be paying homage to Michael Buble.

The Four Kicks, one of the best Kings of Leon tributes in the country are heading over to the town from Ashby and will be performing some of the rock band's most famous hits.

Motown fans will be treated to pianist and vocalist David Skyers, who has backed big names such as Chaka Khan and Belinda Carlisle, and has also been been on our with Take That.

Andy Simpson, owner of COSAM Entertainment whose daughter is friends with Lizzie, has organised the show to share his support to the young couple.

He said: "It's looking to be a great event. We want to get as many people to come along as possible and really make this concert special. The people in the show are so talented and it's for such a good cause, so if anyone's looking for anything to do, get on down to the town hall.
