Uttoxeter's most popular music pub will again become the home of the town's punk scene when a day-long festival returns for its latest incarnation.

Punk Uttoxeter will return to the Old Star, in Queen Street, on Saturday, September 16 and boasts another stellar line-up of rockers and anarchists.

Crackin' Snappin' Promotions have put the bill together, mixing some famous names from punk's illustrious history with some up-and-comers from Staffordshire.

Headlining will be Gimp Fist, who headlined the first ever Punk Uttoxeter event a few years ago.

The classic punk act boast the power of old-school punk, mixed with an authentic, modern style.

A statement on the band's Facebook page reads: "For most of us there are old English bands that took place in our personal history of punk. Some of us have seen those bands in the past and some of us listen to their music on CD or see their shows now.

"However with this band you have the old power and authenticity in the present. Good music, great songs and lyrics – this is Gimp Fist now. Also on their gigs they transfer those feelings and the power to the crowd."

Punk legend Tim "TV" Smith, who charted with a few hits, including Tomahawk Cruise, in the early 1980s, will also be on the bill.

Smith will also play an unplugged session at the Dog and Partridge, in Marchington, on Sunday, September 17 from 5pm.

Uttoxeter favourites Vomit will take up their usual slot as they take to the stage for their latest Star show.

United Bottles will travel all the way from Belfast to join in what is fast becoming one of the top punk shows in the area.

Sons of Clogger will bring their folk-tinged aggression to proceedings from Stoke on Trent, as will Wolf Bites Boy.

Another of the festival's bands, Snide, will make the long journey up from Maidstone, Kent, to entertain Uttoxeter's punk fraternity.

Tickets are available from behind the bar at the Star or by calling 07927 690229.
