Children who dream of bright lights and being on stage now have the chance to fulfil their goals as a new theatre school prepares to launch in Burton.

On Monday, September 11, children aged between four and 18-years-old will be able to enrol at Sally's Theatre School, an institution focused on drama, literature, art and music.

Classes will be run by principal Sally Todd, a teacher of 26 years who has been awarded "outstanding" for her drama teaching over the last 11 years with a national stage school.

Sally prides herself on being creative and says she has an ambition to "enhance the lives of children in my care, grow their confidence and help them to discover their own individual talents".

She said: "I am really excited about the opening. I've been running around giving leaflets out all day – Alan Sugar would be proud of me. The school will take individuals talents and grow them – that’s what we aim to achieve.

"What we aim to do is find out what the children love to do and grow their confidence so they can achieve whatever they want."

Teachers at the new school include Charlie Reid, a talented actor who performed on the London Stage in the Wind of the Willows as a child, as well as being involved in producing Disneyland performances in Paris where he worked with Disney Studios.

The school will offer courses such as 'speaking and acting' and 'speech and communication' in a charming old building with many original features.

Parents can be assured that class sizes will be small so children can receive the unique, individual help and support they need to nurture their confidence.

Many of the plays and performances will be improvised, giving the children the chance to share ideas and write their own contributions towards scripts, something Sally said the school will particularly be focusing on.

Not only will the school enhance pupils' drama skills, it also hopes to educate them on history, with regular visits from a historian who will bring the time of Shakespeare back to life.

The enrolment day will take place on Monday, September 11, from 5pm until 7pm at 3 Friars Walk, Burton.
