A new seven days a week Post Office is due to open in Burton town centre at the end of the month. As part of an exciting new programme to modernise the company, the Post Office has announced plans to open a new post office 'local' service at the Ryman’s store, in 206 Station Street, Burton.

The new service, which is due to launch at 1pm on Thursday, August 24, will be incorporated into the current Ryman's retail outlet, and will see an open-plan style Post Office service counter placed separately in the store.

Customers will now be able to access a wide range of Post Office services, such as using a Post Office Card Account, sending funds abroad, using Moneygram, paying bills, using special delivery and Local Collect, pre-ordering travel money, withdrawing cash, applying for travel insurance and topping up mobile phones.

Customers will be able to carry out these Post Office transactions alongside Ryman's retail purchases if they wish.

Mirroring the opening hours of Ryman's, the Post Office will be available seven days a week throughout the store's opening hours which are from 8.30am to 5.30pm, from Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on a Sunday. This means that an impressive 60 hours of access to services.

The new opening will come as a huge relief to those in the area who previously had to travel to Asda to access their nearest postal service.

A Post Office store had previously been located in New Street, Burton, but relocated to Asda, in Orchard Street, in 1997.

Lisa Jordan, network operations manager for the Post Office, said the opening of the new Burton branch will have a positive impact on those who live in the town.

She said: "We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents. We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office will meet customer needs."
