A unique barber shop business is expanding from its current base in Woodville to take up a second premises in Burton, creating up to 11 jobs.

Dean Gourley, who only opened up Beau Barberista, in High Street, Woodville, last year, is already building upon his success to open up in Coopers Square shopping centre, next to Superdrug.

East Staffordshire Borough Council has been asked to give permission for Mr Gourley to open his second barbers shop, which will also include a café – the recipe for success at his first shop.

His second shop, at 16 Underhill Walk, which is currently empty, will create three full-time jobs and up to eight part-time positions.

A report to the council by agents Lacey and Owen Architectural Services said: "Unit 16 is currently unoccupied, with the client (Mr Gourley) being in the final stages of securing a long term lease, the property is in a good state of repair.

"The client's business model is based around making the journey to the barbers more appealing. It consists of a traditional barbers shop with the addition of a café/coffee shop within the same premises.

"The aim is to create a premises were the male population can come enjoy a great coffee with friends and have lunch while they wait to be groomed by experienced barbers, as well as improving the haircut experience for parents with children, parents can enjoy a cup of coffee with friends and the kids can sit have a soft drink and use of the free wifi as they wait.

"The concept is a strong one, given that we are currently living within a coffee culture which is quickly becoming the largest growing industry in Europe. The client opened their first premises in April 2016, which has been a huge success. The first premises is located at 73 High street, Woodville, and as the client is looking to expand the business he would like Burton to be the second store.

"The client is a local family-run business based in Woodville, who have big plans which involves the provision of a further three stores within the local area by the end of 2017 beginning of 2018."

It is proposed that the new business will employ three full-time staff and between six and eight part time staff, which will provide valuable jobs to the local area.
