The sponsor of a new category at the Burton Mail Business Awards 2017 has spoken of their 'delight' at being involved with the prestigious event.
Molson Coors, which has bases in High Street and Station Street, will be backing the new Medium Business of the Year (21-100 FTEs) category this year, having backed the hotly contested ‘Small Business of the Year’ category for seven years prior.
The prize will be awarded to the business that has made a real difference to the local community and demonstrated a commitment to employee wellbeing and customer service.
The firm is sponsoring the event as part of its commitment to supporting the local Burton and South Derbyshire business community.
Ivan Vrbic, general manager of Molson Coors’ Burton Brewery, said: “I’m impressed by the diverse and enterprising nature of Burton and South Derbyshire’s business community. Here at Molson Coors’ Burton brewery we are once again extremely pleased to be able to support the Burton Mail Business Awards.
“Burton and the surrounding area has a rich history of entrepreneurial spirit and these awards showcase the real passion, innovation and hard work of local businesses, and recognise the huge contribution they make to the local community.”
Firms in the area can follow in the footsteps of winners by entering the eighth Burton Mail Business Awards. There are 11 awards to be won, including the prestigious Business of the Year title.
The winners will be announced at a glittering gala awards ceremony on Thursday, October 19, which will again be held at Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium.
There are several categories in the Business Awards that are aimed at individuals including the Young Employee of the Year award and Employee of the Year award.
This year also sees the introduction of another new award – the Leisure and Hospitality Award, which incorporates everything from retail to restaurants. Firms have until September 8 to enter and can enter as many categories as they wish.
Emma Turton, Burton Mail editor, said: "The entries have already been flying in for the awards this year and the interest around the two new categories has particularly stood out. I would businesses from across East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire to make sure they get involved and make sure they are part of the business event of the year."
