New firms which have made a big impact in a short time are being encouraged to get their entries in for the Burton Mail Business Awards.

Burton Chamber of Commerce is the main sponsor of the Most Promising New Start-Up Business and wants to celebrate a new business or company which has started within the past three years and which has already made a significant impact in its field.

The judges will be looking at all aspects associated with a new business, including innovation, identification of an opportunity and development of a product, strategy and business plan, delivery of the product to market and strategy for growth and further expansion.

Chris Plant, director of the Burton chamber, said: "Supporting businesses is what we are all about and we are particularly pleased to sponsor the Most Promising Start-Up award again this year.

"These businesses often don't get the recognition they deserve and yet these unsung heroes deliver many success stories.

"They also provide inspiration to others thinking about setting up their own business and we can't wait to see the stories that this year's awards throw up."

The eighth Burton Mail Business Awards will see 11 different gongs up for grabs, including the prestigious Business of the Year title.

The winners will be announced at a glittering gala awards ceremony on Thursday, October 19, which will again be held at Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium.

There are several categories in the Business Awards that are aimed at individuals including the Young Employee of the Year award and Employee of the Year award.

This year also sees the introduction of two new awards – Medium Business of the Year (21-100 FTEs) and the Leisure and Hospitality Award, which incorporates everything from retail to restaurants.

Firms have until September 8 to enter and can enter as many categories as they wish.

Burton Mail editor Emma Turton said: "Every year we have great entries in this category and 2017 will be no different. Burton and South Derbyshire firms have so much to offer and those who have just started and experienced success can showcase this by entering this award.

"We cannot wait to shout about all what is good about the best of the best when it comes to business in East Staffordshire. I would now urge all businesses to get involved and be part of the Burton Mail Business Awards 2017."
