A number of incidents on the roads are causing traffic to build up this morning, as most remaining children return to school in Burton and South Derbyshire.

A broken down vehicle is causing traffic problems in Barton at the A38 northbound. The incident has left a lane partially blocked and is holding up drivers around Mill Lane.

Drivers are also being warned of long delays this morning as motorists across Burton and South Derbyshire seek alternative routes to get to school and work.

The closure of St Peters Bridge is causing drivers to find an alternative route and is causing delays and tailback on the A444 St Peter’s Street Northbound between the A5189 for St Peter’s Bridge, Main Street and the A511 Ashby Road. It is also affecting the A511 Ashby Road both ways at A444 Stapenhill Road.

There is also slow traffic on the A50 Eastbound this morning around the A522 for Uttoxeter and Upper Tean with drivers backed up in the roadworks area.
