A pedestrian was left with a serious head injury after he was hit by a car in Burton town centre.
Motorist Kevin Wood, of Fairway, Branston, failed to see two pedestrians crossing the road in George Street towards Guild Street and hit them, causing one of them to suffer a head injury, a court has heard.
The 69-year-old has now admitted driving without due care and attention.
Burton's Allure nightclub loses battle to extend its opening times for A-level celebration event
Teens hoping to celebrate their A-levels will have to leave a popular Burton nightclub by 4am, after plans to extend its opening hours were refused over claims of disorder.
The director of Allure nightclub, in Station Street, will be holding an A-levels celebration night on August 17 through to the early morning of August 18, and had hoped to extend its opening hours to 6am, but Staffordshire Police objected to the plans.

Major work to improve a Burton bridge is set to begin later this month and will see the closure of one of the town’s busiest gateways for three months.
