A Burton woman said she was left horrified after finding a large tooth-like bone in her Aldi fish finger.

Chloe Vardy was tucking in to the last of her "Northern Catch 10 Cod Fish Fingers", purchased from the Aldi branch in Horninglow Street, Burton, when she made the grim discovery.

The 24-year-old, of Wetmore Road, said she felt something sharp in her mouth when she bit into the fish finger, so pulled it out to have a closer inspection.

At first she thought it was a piece of plastic, but when she looked harder, she saw it was an extremely sharp bone.

Chloe said: "At first I thought it was plastic." She said it had a "dirty squishy" layer on the outside and was hard in the middle.

"My mum said it was a bone. I know you get little bones, that's standard but fish fingers, but for something that size - imagine if a child ate that?

Chloe said her mum Angela Vardy purchased the fish fingers about a week before eating them and was unable to find the receipt.

"When I first bit into it I just thought, 'what the hell is that?'

"Imagine if my little cousins had been at the house and were eating the fish fingers, you just dread to think."

An Aldi spokesman said: "We apologise to Ms Vardy for her experience.

"While incidents like this are rare, they can occur naturally in products of this type, which is clearly highlighted on the packaging.

"We have been in touch with Ms Vardy to organise a full refund."
