Officers investigating the suspicious death of a man in Burton are looking for anyone who witnessed a disturbance five days earlier.

Staffordshire Police is appealing for witnesses who saw a disturbance in The Green, Stretton, at around 8pm on Tuesday, July 25, as part of the investigation in to the death of a man in his 60s.

The death is being treated as suspicious and the 41-year-old man has been arrested.

Officers were called to a house in Main Street, Stretton, on Saturday, July 29, at about 8.15pm after concerns were raised about a man inside the property. When police arrived they found his body inside the house.

A post-mortem examination is set to take place today, Monday, July 31. A police presence will remain in the Stretton area while investigations continue, a spokesman has said.

Police have now extended the time for keeping the man they have arrested in custody to noon tomorrow, Tuesday, August 1, so that they can continue with enquiries and questioning.

Witnesses are asked to call 101, quoting incident number 771 of July 29.
