A Burton health club and spa will soon be offering free massages to women who are feeling down in the dumps.

Bannatyne Health Club and Spa, which is situated at St Peter's Retail Park, in Centrum 100, has linked up with the charity Willow to shine the spotlight on issues affecting women's physical and emotional wellbeing.

It comes as part of Women's Wellness Week, launched by Spabreaks.com, which aims to encourage women to prioritise their health by taking a little time each day to do something for themselves.

To raise money for the cause, Spabreaks.com is inviting up to 1,000 women to take some time out to enjoy a massage at Bannatyne's spas across the UK and throughout the world at 11am on Tuesday, September 19.

The massages are free of charge, but all spas will be asking for a donation of £20 per session and the donations will be handed over in full to Willow.

The event has already captured the imagination of women across the country, with hundreds of members of the public signing up, with celebrities such as Denise Van Outen, Megs Wilson and Mary Nightingale pledging to take part.

All money raised during the week will go to Willow, a charity which organises special days for seriously ill young adults – allowing them to take time out from fighting their illnesses to do something they enjoy.

Dean Brookes, general manager at the Bannatyne Health Club and Spa, in Burton, said: "We're delighted to be supporting one of our partners, spabreaks.com, in this charity initiative.

"We will be part of the biggest massage event in the world and at 11am on Tuesday, September 19 as part of Women's Wellness Week we, along with the majority of our Bannatyne Spas nationwide, will be welcoming a number of ladies to enjoy a complimentary massage.

"This campaign will not only raise money for a very worthwhile charity, Willow, but also supports our focus on holistic health and wellbeing and enabling people to fulfil their desire for healthy lifestyles based on a blend of exercise, relaxation and rejuvenation."

Women's Wellness Week takes place from Monday, September 18 until Friday, September 22 and women from Burton and South Derbyshire in need of a little 'me' time can register for a massage by visiting www.spabreaks.com
