Doughnut fans in Branston can rejoice as cake specialists Birds Bakery will open its new store there next week, after months of building work. The new store will also create 10 new jobs for shop assistants in the area.
The store will open at the Branston Square retail park, near the Co-op and next to charity shop Barnardo's, on Tuesday, July 11, after the refit began on Wednesday, May 24.
Sweet-toothed customers can grab a caramel doughnut or egg custard from the store when it opens at 8am.
Mike Holling, head of retail at Birds, said: “We’re really looking forward to seeing the local community come out to us when we open.
“A lot of hard work has gone into building the store, but we’re positive the people of Branston will enjoy it.”
More than £130,000 has been spent creating the new store that will be filled with the usually popular Birds items such as sausage rolls, doughnuts and tarts, as well as a larger focus on takeaway menu items such as sausage cobs. There are set to be seats in the store for customers to enjoy their purchases.
It’s the second store to open in the area in the last few months, as the new Stretton one opened on Thursday, May 18, and proved to be so popular, that eager customers were queuing out the door on opening day.
The opening was so popular that staff were forced to use stocks from the bakery in Derby to keep up with demand after selling out of some of the most popular supplies by lunchtime.
