Officers searching for a missing Derbyshire pensioner have found a body in the River Derwent.

Although a formal identification has not yet taken place, police believe that the body is that of Manjit Kaur who was last seen at her home in Allenton, in Derby, at 9am on Saturday, October 14.

The body was found on Tuesday, October 17, near Meadow Road by police officers who were searching the river for the 77-year-old.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: "The body is thought to be Ms Kaur, however a formal identification is yet to take place.

Police launched an appeal to the public through the media and social media to try and find her.

They described her as Asian, 5ft 5ins tall, of medium build, with grey short hair and was wearing a pink Punjabi jumpsuit and a white cotton coat.
