Football-mad groom Rich Seagrave certainly stood out from the crowd thanks his brightly coloured black and yellow suit as he prepared to say “I do” to his fiancée, Rebecca.
The 31-year-old die-hard Brewers fan even cut into his football-themed wedding cake to the tune of the club’s song Start Me Up by the Rolling Stones.
The couple got hitched on Saturday, July 15, five years to the day since they met, with the bridesmaids also wearing the team’s colours. However, Rebecca chose to be traditional with a white wedding dress.
Each table had a picture of a team player, including manager Nigel Clough and club chairman Ben Robinson.
The team’s mascot Billy Brewer also made a surprise entrance at the wedding reception.
After the blushing bride turned down his dream of getting hitched the Pirelli Stadium, the couple, from Ripley, got married at nearby Horsley Lodge in front of 200 guests and their two children, Lucy, four, and Hugo, two.
Life-long Albion fan Rich told the Daily Express : “My best men and I wore yellow suits and the bridesmaids wore black. People were surprised but they know what I am like.
“The hall was decorated in black and yellow with black and yellow chair covers and the table centrepieces featured the faces of Burton Albion legends.”
The couple met while working at Ross Ceramics Ltd in Ripley. Rich said: “I have followed Burton Albion through good and bad and it was always going to play a part in the wedding.”
Bride Rebecca said: “Luckily I’m a big Burton Albion fan too. I knew there would be a football theme wedding and I was happy to go along with it.
“But I was always going to wear a white dress.”
