The incident on a Woodville street that was cornered off this morning after a LPG gas-powered car was reported to be leaking fuel is still ongoing, but is expected to be wrapped up soon.

Update on Repton crash

One person has been taken to hospital by air ambulance and three others have been taken to hospital by land ambulance following a collision, in Hartshorne Road, Repton.

Accident on M1 near Derby

One lane of the M1 southbound between junction 25 and 24A has been closed following an accident involving four vehicles.

Queuing traffic has been reported between the A52 and the A50 at East Midlands Airport.

The other three lanes remain open.

Collision in Repton closes road

A road in South Derbyshire is closed in both direction following a crash involving two cars.

Traffic and travel information website Inrix has reported that Hartshorne Road, Repton, is closed in both directions following the collision.

Closures are in place between Robin’s Cross Lane and Knight’s Lane.

Queuing traffic has been reported and motorists travelling between Repton and Midway are affected.

Travellers have arrived in Branston

Police have been offering reassurances to members of the public after travellers set up camp in a car park last week.

Staffordshire Police said it received a call at around 9.20pm on Thursday night, July 20, to reports that travellers had moved onto land in Second Avenue in Burton.

Two caravans and two cars are currently at the site.

A spokesman said: “We have increased patrols and attended the scene to offer reassurances to concerned members of the public and we are continuing to monitor the situation.”

Emergency repairs on M42 near Swadlincote as lane closed

Emergency repairs are being carried out on the M42 near Swadlincote as one lane is closed.

One lane of the M42 northbound between J10 A5, Tamworth, and J11 A42, Burton, is closed for emergency repairs to the barrier.

Lane one of two is closed and motorists are experiencing an extra 10 minutes travel time.

Residents told to stay indoors after gas leak

Residents in the Station Road area of Woodville have been told in stay indoors while firefighters deal with a leak from an LPG gas-powered car in the street. They say they are now waiting for a specialist to arrive to deal with the incident.

Officer in charge, Station Manager Lee Smith said: “Firefighters from Swadlincote are working to contain the leak of LPG and keep both locals and the scene safe. We are currently waiting for the arrival of a mechanical specialist who will be able to advise on the quickest and most effective solution to the incident.


“As soon as it is safe to do so, we will remove the cordon, however people’s safety is our priority and I’d therefore like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding for the inconvenience this incident may have caused.”

Residents driveways are cordoned off due to the LPG gas incident in Woodville

One resident has said residents’ driveways are cordoned off this morning due to the car leaking LPG gas in Station Road, Woodville. She believes there has been an issue with the car’s fuel tank, which has caused the leak and there may be a risk of explosion.

She said: “No cars are allowed past or anyone smoking etc because LPG is a volatile gas it could easily cause an explosion so all driveways are cordoned off in the cul de sac bottom of Station Road which is where we are.

“Fire service are doing a sterling job as always.”

Road partly blocked after accident

There are still issues on the A38 near Lichfield after an accident on the Swinfen roundabout at the A5206 and A5148. The road is partially blocked, reports traffic information website Inrix.

LPG car leaking gas

Fire crews were called to the car in Station Road in Woodville on Monday at 11.05pm, according to latest reports from crews and the incident is still on-going this morning. A cordon was set up around the vehicle and that remains in place this morning.

Reports coming in of fire crews called to Station Road in Woodville after an LPG car was leaking fuel. The incident happened at 7am and is now causing traffic issues.

Accident on the A38

There has been an accident on the A38 at Lichfield, says traffic and travel information website Inrix. It says there is slow traffic due to accident near the A5206 and A5148 Swinfen Island. The accident has happened on the roundabout.

Slow traffic on the M1 in Derbyshire

There is slow traffic on M1 southbound between junction 25 for the A52 Brian Clough Way heading for Derby) and junction 24A for the A50 heading for Derby, Stoke and East Midlands Airport.

Meanwhile, the road has now cleared on the A51 at Stone in Staffordshire due to a broken down lorry. The lorry had got stuck underneath a bridge.
