Problems on the roads

If you’re planning on travelling out of Burton for the Bank Holiday, make sure you check the roads before setting off.

The A42 northbound has been closed between junction 14 and junction 23a of the M1 near Castle Donington. The closure has been caused by an overturned vehicle and police officers are currently on the scene.

If you do need to travel that way, a diversion is in place. Drivers are advised to follow the Solid Square diversion and exit the A42 at junction 14 and join the A453 northbound until the Moor Lane and Walton Hill junction. Turn right at the junction and take the first exit at the Finger Farm roundabout to rejoin the A453 southbound.
