New footage has been taken of the shop which will soon become high street fashion chain Next which is just weeks away from opening.

The Next at Home store replaces Toys R Us and the BHS store, which closed last year after plunging into administration, the shops they used to occupy have been gutted and knocked into one remains empty as works continues to revamp the façade at Coopers Square shopping centre.

The space will house Next and other retailer, but it is not know who that will be yet.

Although readers have previously welcomed the idea of another fashion retailer, H&M, taking up the space. H&M has said it has not ruled out Burton but that it wanted to be closer to other clothes retailers like New Look.

Next will create 60 jobs and the new store will replace its current shop inside the shopping centre, near Primark.

The store replaces BHS and Toys R Us

It was revealed in January, that Next would be relocating to the former BHS store, which closed for good when the clothing and home chain plunged into administration in June last year.

The change in venue for Next has meant Toys R Us, which had been housed in the unit adjoining the old BHS store which will now be part of Next, has gone but the toy retailer has since not returned to Burton.

Next, which will include a homeware section, will take over the floorspace of what was Toys R Us as well as BHS; the area will then be subdivided to include another, as-yet unnamed, retailer.

The planning application to change the façade and subdivide the 44,500 sq ft BHS store into two units was approved by East Staffordshire Borough Council and reveals the new floorplan includes that of Toys R Us. Neighbouring Poundworld remains unaffected by the change.
