Two drivers have been fined after speeding on the A511 in Midway - one who was caught on Christmas Day. They were among the latest people to have their cases dealt with at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court:

Speed

A woman has admitted speeding. Sarah Abbotts, 32, of Rowton Street, Burton, admitted via the single justice procedure to exceeding the 30mph speed limit by driving at 38mph on the A511 Burton Road, Midway, on January 11.
She has been fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. Her licence was also endorsed with three penalty points.

Driving

A man was caught speeding. It was proved via the single justice procedure that Florin Ciuculescu, 28, of Drake Street, Coventry, exceeded the 30mph speed limit by driving at 38mph on the A511 Burton Road, Midway, on Christmas Day.
He has been fined £220 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with three points.

Insurance

A man has admitted driving without insurance. Andrew Gailley, 35, of Burton Road, Swadlincote, admitted using a Peugeot 207 in High Street, Repton, without insurance and otherwise than in accordance with a licence, on March 16.
He has been fined £300 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. He has been banned from driving for six months.

Assault

A man has admitted assault. Francis Molloy, 54, of Marlow Road, East Ham, London, admitted assaulting a woman in Plummer Road, Newhall, on May 15.
He has been made the subject of a two -month community order with an eight-week curfew. He was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Consent

A teenager took a car without the owner's consent. Joshua Brake, 19, of Burton Road, Woodville, admitted taking a Mazda without the owner’s consent in Burton Road, Woodville, on June 20. He also admitted driving while uninsured.
He has been made the subject of a 12 month community order and will carry out 140 hours unpaid work. He has been ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge. he was banned from driving for 12 months.
