It appears the cold temperatures biting the toes of residents across Burton and South Derbyshire may be disappearing as temperature are set to soar over the next couple of days.

According to the Weather Channel, on Sunday, December 17, temperatures are expected to rise to 8C or 9C later and only dropping after 9pm.

Rain is expected during the early afternoon, but should clear up by around 4pm. There should be an overnight lows of 4C.

Moving into Monday, temperatures will drop a little compared to Sunday but not as low as in recent days. It should stay around 5C to 6C for most of the day.

Say it quietly, but the sun should also be making an appearance from 9am until 3pm, with clouds then settling in for the evening and patches of fog during the night.

We should see much of the same on Tuesday, but with slightly warmer temperatures and highs of 9C and lows of 7C.

This comes as a nice reprieve after weeks of freezing temperatures and two snow storms in the area.

Many schools shut their doors on Monday, December 11 after residents woke up to a blanket of snow the day before. It caused major traffic problems too.

Snow fell again on the evening of Wednesday, December 13, but this time did not stick to the ground. Ice has caused problems for motorists and pedestrians in recent days.

Currently there is no white Christmas on the cards. The current forecast for the big day is for cloud and highs of 6C.
