A light fixture which fell from a ceiling led to three people being treated for minor injuries at a Burton warehouse.

Staffordshire Police said they were called to Hobbycraft Distribution Centre, at Centrum 100, yesterday, Monday, September 11, after a light fixture fell from the ceiling causing minor injuries to staff. However, the force's assistance was not required.

The incident saw employees sent home as the site was closed for the rest of the day to allow for safety checks.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called at 9.36am and one ambulance was sent along with a paramedic officer in the rapid response vehicle from the Midlands Air Ambulance. They assessed three people for minor injuries and they were discharged at the scene.

A spokesman for Hobbycraft said after the incident: "We can confirm that there was an incident at the Burton Distribution Centre this morning. A small number of colleagues obtained minor injuries and were successfully treated on site before being sent home.

"The safety and wellbeing of our colleagues is of the utmost importance so as a precaution, we have closed the site for the rest of today while additional safety checks are taking place."

The distribution centre is open and fully operational today.
