A 42-year-old thief has been spared jail after she targeted the same shop FIVE times in six weeks.

Ginette Brindley, 42, of Shannon Approach, Burton, managed to escape with a variety of different male grooming products during her spree.

Her target was Boots, in Coopers Square shopping centre, Burton.

Brindley was made the subject of a suspended sentence when she appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court where she pleaded guilty to the charges against her.

She admitted stealing a Braun shaver worth £149.99, from Boots, on April 3. She then stole another Braun shaver, this time worth £119.99, on April 21, from the store, the court was told.

She also admitted two charges of stealing male grooming products worth £149.99, on April 23, and once again on April 26.

The last offence, when Brindley was caught, was on May 14 when she stole make up worth £145.97.

She also admitted failing to attend court on May 11.

Brindley has been made the subject of a 26-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. Magistrates were told some of items she stole had not been recovered.

They also heard there was a degree of pre-planning because she was caught with a foil-lined bag used in a bid to beat store scanners.

Brindley will also have to undertake drug rehabilitation for drug dependency, JPs said. She was also ordered to pay £719.23 compensation.
