After a sunny start this morning, heavy showers are predicted at midday this afternoon in Burton and South Derbyshire and will spread east with hail, thunder and gusty winds in places.

The rain will clear at 6pm, leaving a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers feeling cool during the afternoon.

Tonight the daytime showers will fade to leave a dry and clear night for most. It will be a cool night in some rural spots with light winds.

Forecasters predict a mostly dry on Sunday, August 5.

As the morning progresses into the afternoon we will see highs of 19C at 2pm lasting up until the evening at 9pm – perfect for a BBQ in the garden with family and friends.

Although the sun will disappear behind the clouds it’s still set to be a warm evening with lows of 16C. There is a slight chance of rain as it arrives from the west into the early morning.
